Kid's at The Gate

Meet The Leaders
What to Expect
Welcome to Kid’s at The Gate! We are delighted to have your child(ren) join in our church ministries. It is our goal that every child can hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and develop into the young man or woman the Lord has destined them to be. Thank you for trusting us as being part of this endeavor.
Church at The Gate leadership holds the protection of all children and youth with purposeful and applicable intentions. We do this by ensuring all ministry leaders, staff, and volunteers receive annual trainings and annual background checks to include sex offender registries. We endeavor to ensure the best practices possible so your child(ren)/youth can be in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Ensuring such protective practices requires collaboration of all ministry leaders, staff, volunteers and parents. This collaboration entails ongoing communication between ministry leaders and parents regarding the overall health and safety of your child(ren). This communication may be done through documented phone calls, texts, emails, letters or face-to-face communications. We welcome questions and comments from parents and guardians.
What to Expect
All children are required to complete a registration packet. No child will be permitted to continue in Children activities until all paperwork has been completed and returned to the Ministry Coordinators or Volunteer. All new children will receive a registration packet during their first visit. All existing children will renew the registration the beginning of each August.
All children for Kid’s Church will be dropped off at the top of the stairs as they are greeted by a Children Church worker. The individual dropping off the child(ren) will complete a sign-in/sign-out sheet containing the child’s name, date and time. Once the sign-in sheet has been completed, the individual dropping of the child may then proceed downstairs into the Kid’s Church area. Once dropped off, each child will remain with the Children Church leaders until a registered parent or guardian comes to retrieve their child(ren).
When returning to retrieve your child(ren) a registered parent or guardian must sign the sign-in/sign-out form for each child. Once signed, the registered parent or guardian can then retrieve their child(ren). NO CHILD(REN) WILL BE RELEASED TO ANYONE NOT REGISTERED TO PICK UP THE CHILD.
Our Children’s Ministries provide kids from birth through 5th grade with a loving, fun, safe and secure environment to grow in God’s love. Nursery is for children from birth to 4 years old. Kid’s at The Gate is designed for children 5 years old to 5th grade. This enables parents to attend worship to gain a stronger foundation so they can lead their families with Biblical truth.
Your child’s safety is our priority.
-
We use a check-in/check-out system to help ensure your child’s safety. When you drop your child off, you will be greeted by someone. There is one check-in/out area of which parents/guardians can check-in/out all their children. This is located outside the doors leading to the nursery and Kid’s Chapel area.
-
First-time visitors will be provided with a welcome packet containing necessary information to be completed by a parent or guardian.
-
Your child will be checked in and provided with a name tag. If your child needs you during the service, we will text you. Please make sure we have a current cell phone number and your cell phone (on silent) available during service.
-
Parents or guardians are the only ones allowed to pick your child(ren) up from the Nursery and Kid’s at The Gate. If you have family or friends that have permission to pick up your child, please let us know in advance and complete the form to authorize them to pick up the child(ren).
We ask that you not bring your child to church if he or she has:
-
had a fever of 100.5 or higher in the last 24 hours
-
vomited or had diarrhea in the last 24 hours
-
excessive coughing or runny nose

Kids at The Gate
Children in Kid’s at The Gate worship, learn and grow in love for Jesus through fun and activity–they will always remember what they did and saw much longer than what they heard! We use curriculum to teach kids that the Bible is one big story of God’s deep love and desire to rescue us, His children. Each lesson points to the Savior Jesus and is designed to meet children on their level to encourage growth in their relationship with Jesus and to develop a prayerful heart for each other, our mission partners and non-believers.

Kids at The Gate is for children 5 years old or Kindergarten through 5th grade. Every aspect of the time is designed to teach how they learn best–through fun activities and meaningful discussion. The time includes music, games, a Bible story video, lots of discussion, Bible skills and Missions Moment. Children are encouraged to ask questions as they seek to know and understand the Lord and their growing Christian faith.

Special Needs
We desire to reach all children regardless of limitations. Please do not hesitate to speak with a Coordinator, Angie Wilcoxen or Ryann Anderson, on how we can best assist in providing the best experience possible for your child. Our Ministry Coordinators have extensive training and experience in special needs. Our goal is to be creative so ALL children have an opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ.
Protecting Our Children
All CATG Members and Ministry Volunteer has gone through an extensive background check. The background checks include National database checks from an independent group, National Sex Registry and Local Sex Registries. All volunteers who serve in ministry at CATG not only go through extensive background checks, but also attend regular trainings regarding the Child and Youth Protection Manual, Church at The Gate Child and Youth Safety Handbook, See Something, Say Something Policy, and Mandated Reporting. Other trainings are also provided throughout the year to ensure up to date best practices in protecting the most vulnerable. For more information please contact Pastor Roger Wilcoxen at 913-944-9103 or pastorrogerwilcoxen@gmail.com. The Child and Youth Protection Manual can be found at https://resources.foursquare.org/child-youth-protection-manual-resources/
